Our Counseling Approach
We thoroughly assess each child’s emotional, behavioral, and social needs — taking into account their developmental stage, family dynamics, and individual strengths. Our licensed clinicians support your family through every stage, from initial assessment to ongoing therapy and progress monitoring.
Individual & Family Counseling
We offer one-on-one therapy and family counseling for children and adolescents using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and play therapy — each tailored to your child’s age, diagnosis, and developmental needs.
Social Skills & Group Therapy
For children who struggle with peer interactions, making friends, or reading social cues, we offer structured social skills groups where children practice communication and relationship-building in a safe, supportive setting.
Licensed Clinicians Only
Our counseling team includes Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSW), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) — all licensed through the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy or Board of Social Work.
Supporting the Whole Child
Every child’s emotional well-being matters. Our counseling services go beyond managing symptoms — we help children understand their emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and build the confidence they need to navigate the world around them. Minnesota’s mental health parity law ensures coverage is equal to medical care, and our team handles verification so your family can focus on healing.
How Our Team Supports Your Child's Well-Being
Initial Assessment
We start with a comprehensive evaluation to understand your child’s emotional, behavioral, and social needs. This includes conversations with parents, developmental screening, and age-appropriate assessments.
Personalized Treatment Plan
Your clinician creates an individualized treatment plan with clear goals, evidence-based strategies, and a timeline — all developed in partnership with your family and your child’s broader care team.
Therapeutic Sessions
Your child attends regular sessions using approaches tailored to their needs — whether that’s play therapy, CBT, social skills groups, or a combination. We meet children where they are, at our clinic or in the community.
Progress & Family Involvement
We regularly review your child’s progress, adjust the plan as needed, and keep you informed every step of the way. Family involvement is key — we equip parents with tools and strategies to reinforce growth at home.

“Our daughter was struggling with anxiety and shutting down at school. After just a few months of counseling at Creative Thinkers, she started opening up, making friends, and actually looking forward to going to school again. The change has been incredible.”
